Governor David Umahi has announced that a third case of COVID-19 has been recorded in Ebonyi state.
Umahi who announced this in a broadcast on Friday Night, said the patient, Mr. Emeka Nwite, returned from Santana area in Lagos. He was apprehended at Ogbala Ishieke while returning from Lagos on 24th April 2020, by the Ebonyi State Task Force of Ebonyi LGA and his sample collected which came out positive. Umahi added that all his four close contacts were also tested, but their results came out negative. His words: “Governor Umahi announces 3rd case of Covid-19 recorded in Ebonyi State today, 1st of May 2020. The patient is 25-yr-old Man by name Mr. Emeka Nwite from Odoke, extreme part of Ebonyi LGA. Emeka who lives at Santana Area in Lagos, sells Phone Accessories at Ojo in Lagos and left Lagos on Friday 24/4/2020, with a Vehicle from Lagos to Benin, Benin to Asaba, Asaba to Onitsha, Onitsha to Enugu & Enugu to Ogbala Ishieke, where he was apprehended by the Ebonyi State Task Force of Ebonyi LGA.†He was sent for Laboratory Test whose RESULT came out POSITIVE FOR COVID -19 this evening Fri.1/5/2020. He has 4-Close Contacts who tested NEGATIVE but are already on Strict Isolation. Emeka has been relocated to Quarantine and has commenced Treatment at our Centre under adequate Medical attentionâ€. Umahi further emphasized on the need for the use of face masks and ensure strict compliance to the border closure.
