The Soun of Ogbomoso Palace today received new tortoise courtesy of Oyo State Government as a replacement to late 344-year old tortoise that died October 2019.The late 344 year old tortoise was named Alagba was believed to have healing powers which make it attracted visitors across the globe.It is on record that the late tortoise was brought to palace by the Kingdom's third leader named Isan Okumoyede who reigned from 1770 to 1799.
The Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye and Governor Seyi Makinde's friend delivered the tortoise to Soun Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade III in his palace. Ogbomoso North Local Government which host the Soun Ogbomoso Palace has its Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Ajagba among government's entourage for the donation of the tortoise. The private secretary of paramount king in Ogbomoso land, Mr. Toyin Ajamu said; "we received the new tortoise this afternoon from Oyo State Government which will feel the vacuum created by late Baba Agba."
