RE OPENING OF SCHOOL: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WARN INSTITUTIONS COUNSELORS by Bayonle(m): Thu 04, June, 2020 06:55am
All federal and state university vice Chancellors would recall that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Federal Government had earlier announced the nationwide closure of all educational institutions as part of measures to curtail its spread in the country. As a result of that, school academic calenders have been altered.

However, all vice chancellors Should conform with the decision of the federal government on not re-opening schools at this time of persistent increase of Covid-19 cases as Minister of State, Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, had earlier restated the decision of the ministry not to reopen schools, saying the government would not expose its children to the virus.

In finding other means of learning, the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, had announced earlier before now, that all students in Nigeria have been granted free access to the following e-learning portals; the schoolgate.ng and the mobileclassroom.com.ng App. It is important that Federal, state and private university vice chancellors should mobilize their lecturers and students to commence lectures using the online platforms the government has provided.

All federal and state university vice chancellors should understand that the Mobile Classroom App is an indigenous mobile application that enables students to learn audio-visually through devices like phones and computers and therefore, should encourage it's usage.

Importantly, all vice chancellors of federal, state and private universities should take note of the above information so that they can relate to their lecturers and students and encourage them to commence lectures using the e-learning platforms.

Do you think this is the right thing vice chancellors should do at this time? If you think so, kindly suggest how this could be achieved?
