Prof. Julius Ademokoya, President, Speech Pathologists and Audiologists Association inNigeria (SPAAN), says no fewerthan 8.5 million Nigerians are suffering fromhearing impairments.He stated thison Thursday during a newsconference tocommemorate the International Month of Hearing and Speech for 2020, held at the NUJ Press Centre in Ibadan.
Recall that the conference, with the theme: “Promoting Better Hearing and Speech in Nigeria”, was organised by SPAAN, in collaboration with Smile Train Incorporation.Ademokoya described therate at which the figure of affected Nigerians wasincreasing as alarming, calling for the government’sintervention toward addressing the situation.
