The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Adamawa state seems to be deepening following the detention of three members of the Umar Ardo led faction of the party by the police in the state.
The crisis worsened with the formation of the Ardo faction known as reformed PDP (rPDP) due to a disagreement over legality of the state government backed executive under the leadership of Barrister Tahir Shehu. According to the leader of the factional party christened R-PDP in the state, their members were arrested as a result of an alleged petition written to the police by the state Chairman of the PDP. READ ALSO: Jonathan, AU Mourn Death Of Former Prime Minister Of Togo, Edem Kodjo Shehu was said to have accused the R-PDP members of using the party’s logo and documents describing their leader as an expelled member. But reacting to the allegations, the PDP Chairman in the state, Tahir Shehu, denied his involvement in the arrest and subsequent detention of the party’s factional members. When contacted on phone, the spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje told Channels Television that he is yet to be briefed on the development. While explaining that he is out of town and could not comment on the issue, the police spokesman promised to get back. 1 Like |
