The Nigerian Airforce(NAF) deployed it's special forces operatives to Nasarawa on Sunday to boost internal security in the state and North-Central zone of the country.
The troops were deployed to tackle the emerging security challenges such as banditry, cattle rustlings, farmers and herders clash in the zone. The Chief of the Air Staff(CAF) Air Marshall Sardique Abubakar who was represented by AVM Charles Ohwo, the Air officer commanding special operations command addressed the troops in Lafia and urged them to be professional in their conducts. He also added that the were deployed to complement and add value to the already existing security apparatus on ground. The Air Chief appreciated the Nasarawa State Government for provision of facilities for the Quick response wing in Lafia. He also urged the government of Lafia to put in place refueling facilities to enable Helicopters easy access for refueling as the advance for operations. Speaking to newsmen, Nasarawa State Governor; Abdullahi Sule expressed appreciation to the President for the quick response to the security challenges in his State. According to him, the response came just three days after he called for helped from the Federal Government.
