1. Enjoy plenty of fruits and vegetables
Taking fruits and vegetables are important to give us enough fibre, minerals and vitamins. One should endeavor to take at least 4-5 servings a day. We should also endeavor to add vegetables in our meals, for example adding cucumber or carrot in meals like rice, noodles, etc. 2.Reduce the intake of salt and sugar Too much of salt intake can lead to high blood pressure and increases the probability of having cardiovascular disease. You can reduce your salt intake by adding spices to foods in replacement of salt Sugar has its sweetness, it's rich in energy, but will best enjoyed when taken in moderation, we could use honey or fruits instead to sweeten our drinks or food. 3. Drink plenty of fluids As an adult one needs to take at least 1.5 litres of fluids per day or take more if the weather is hot or one engaged in a physical activity. Taking water is the best source, one can also take fruit juices, tea, soft drinks and other drinks. 4. Let your diet be based on foods rich in carbohydrates For an adult about half the calories in our diets should be from foods that contains or rich in carbohydrates, foods like rice cereals potatoes pasta, bread and so on. It is advisable to include at least one of these(carbohydrates)in our meal because it helps to increase our fibre intake.
