I slapped my brother in-law.

He took food from my pot without telling me. When I confronted him, he picked furious argument.
In protest, brother in-law stopped eating at home.

Brother in-law is an undergraduate.
Hubby noticed and asked his brother why, he said nothing.
Hubby wasn't satisfied, asked me, I said ask your brother.

Hubby insisted on finding why so he asked other souls in the house and they told him what happened.
Hubby was very angry and felt I disrespected him, saying I could have reported to him to handle the issue.
I don't work so Hubby provides everything.

Hubby told me to apologise to his brother, which I refused. This is my house.
Brother in-law jejely carried his luggage and left without telling anyone.

Hubby has told me to leave his house alleging I deliberately refuse to accommodate his family members but feels free with my own family members.
Hubby is being unfair, taking sides with his brother.

I'm confused right now and need a mature advice on way forward.
