I am calling on Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and on the Tinubu administration to immediately step in and facilitate the safe return and recognition of the Nigerian activist hero who participated in the Gaza Sumud Flotilla. This was not just another protest, it was a mission of moral courage. The Sumud Flotilla sailed in the face of military blockade, carrying nothing but humanitarian aid and the conscience of the world. Among those who braved that voyage was a Nigerian, a citizen who embodied the spirit of resistance, empathy, and international solidarity. If Nigeria can send peacekeepers abroad, we must also protect peace activists who stand up for justice globally. This is not a political issue, it’s a humanitarian and national pride issue. The world should see that Nigeria does not abandon her citizens who act on the right side of history. Abike Dabiri and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must use every diplomatic and consular channel to ensure this activist’s welfare, safety, and recognition as a symbol of Nigerian conscience abroad. Let it be known that in a time of global silence, a Nigerian voice spoke, and Nigeria stood behind it. Tinubu, Minister Tuggar, Ambassador Bianca, and Abike Dabiri must urgently call on the Israeli Ambassador, Michael Freeman, to guarantee the safety of Okey Nnorom while he remains in IDF custody. Nigeria should also demand his immediate and unconditional release, just as other nations like Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have successfully done for their detained citizens. Okey Nnorom stood for humanity; now humanity must stand for him. Salute to courage. Salute to humanity. Activist Okey Vitalis Nnorom who joined the Omar AlMokhtar Flotilla sailing alongside the Global Sumud Flotilla, remains in detention, despite earlier false reports claiming he was handed over to the Nigerian embassy in Jordan. The occupation authorities deliberately obfuscated information and misled lawyers about the detainees’ status. Supporters are called on to contact their local Nigerian embassy and the Nigerian government to demand Michael’s immediate release. https://x.com/WearThePeaceCo/status/1975960797323862368?t=hrDRnHf2n8cQvOmT69WIGw&s=19
