A leading aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ondo 2020 governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has met party delegates ahead primary election.
Jegede had on Monday commenced local government tour to solicit support of party leaders and delegates ahead of Ondo PDP Primaries slated for July 22. The former Attorney General of the state also unveiled his agenda to accelerate development and bring dividends of democracy to every ward, when election as governor. The Akure born politician lamented how present administration has commercialised every social services including education, health and others in their desperate attempt to increase state Internally Generated Revenue. Jegede however promised to make quality education accessible to students irrespective of their parents status, noting that APC governor who increased tuition fee from N35,000 to N180,000- N300,000 enjoyed free education. He assured the youths of his readiness to create enabling environment that would generate job opportunities, create wealth and make them self reliant. While speaking on zoning, Jegede said: ''We are not afraid of merit and competition. The only reason we are in this business is to offer good governance to our people and if some people think that they should deny people good governance on the premise of such contrived phenomenon, then I don’t think our people are so unwise to believe that argument. Zoning has no place in the constitution of the party, and it has no place in the regulations of the party. The party has always emphasized on democracy.'' While speaking with journalists in Akure on Wednesday, he expressed optimism that delegates would elect as the Party candidate and would deliver sweet victory for PDP during October 10 governorship poll The PDP Governorship candidate is being accompanied by some party leaders and elected political office holders from the three senatorial districts of the state. He has visited all the 18 local government areas of the state ahead of the forthcoming governorship primary election in the party.
