I remember many years ago when I was using Glo network and they were giving free SMS. I used to send good will messages to people every month end.
I would send messages to people and some would respond in appreciation. There was this brother I always sent happy new month messages to, he would never respond or even acknowledge receipt of the text messages. I resolved to stop sending new month messages to him as I deemed those messages to be waste since he decided to turn a blind eye to them whenever he received them. One day he met me somewhere and asked if I had finished using my free Glo SMS.. "I no longer see your messages" he asked. In my mind, I was like " So you actually see my messages but chose to ignore them?". I guess my messages became a nuisance to him. The free SMS actually ended fast. I was being charged for the text messages I sent subsequently, but brother man thought I was bugging him because I had free SMS. We need to learn the culture of saying thank you when people do some things for us no matter how Great or small. When I visit an eatery and the attendant hands over my order to me, I say thank you. Some people might wonder, "didn't you pay for what you bought, why thanking him? ". Thanking someone doesn't necessarily mean the person gave you something freely, it could mean being appreciative because something was delivered to you in a good condition. Being appreciative is a culture that everyone should imbibe. Some people will beg for money, and when they get the money, it is the giver that will still call to ask if they've received the money. What you will hear is "yes, I have received it" and this comes out of the person's mouth without any form of apology. Learn to say thank you for both little and big kindness shown to you. It will give the person that showed you that kind gesture an impression that you are not an ingrate. It will make the person know you have a good head.. Remember, if the giver doesn't give, you won't do nothing. So learn to be thankful. Facebook: George Ben
