Before you rent any apartment anywhere please try to make proper consultations. Come around at least twice or trice and jokingly engage neighbours to know about the neighborhood.

And please, try to enquire whether you are the first person to occupy the room or someone has checked out of the room.
If actually someone has parked out look for the person's contact and talk to him/her. Ask questions about the house and know why they left.

This may save you a lot of trouble.
A friend once rented an apartment some years back and it wasn't easy with him.
At night he heard people singing in deep tones.

There were particular times of the night especially between 1:00 am and 2:00 am that if you put on the light in his room it will not come on.

Such times he could hear plates falling from the kitchen and the chairs in the parlour being dragged.
Sometimes he would wake up and notice that his parlour has been rearranged and at times candle wax would be found on the table.

I spent a night there once and had a bad dream. I heard the singing too and asked him, he confessed of hearing some singing but all in his dream.

I never went there again because me I no want join choir.
But a simple ring given to him by the security guy at his office opened up so many things.

We hung out that night and came back late. When he opened his room and put on the light it didn't switch on.
So he removed his phone and putting on the light lo and behold not less than 15 persons wearing red gowns with black mufflers were in his parlour. The red candles burned slowly on his table.
He ran out and that was the last time he ever saw the interior of that room. Other persons did the parking for him.
Did I tell you? The landlord was among the midnight choristers.

The night is a time for people of the dark and they don't respect boundaries. They can use your room for anything.
They might be in your room as you read this. Those quick sounds you hear in your room do you think it's caused by mosquitoes? Na dem.
That quick sound your door or window makes at night you think sey na wetin? Na dem.

Those quick foot steps nko? I say na them. Once you hear any sound inside your room know sey na dem. I say na dem.
Omo forget, ghosts and spirits they share your room steady.

It's worse if you don't pray. They will go and bring others to come and stay in your room because it's peaceful.
Ask questions before you rent any apartment.

The landlord himself may know but never tell you because what he wants is just the money.
