Kogi is back again with a bad news as a report of a robbery attack claimed 2 lives while an unaccountable number of persons were reportedly kidnapped.



The attack took place on 10th June, 2020 along Lokoja- Koto Karfe road in Kogi state. 6 days after the state came under attack by bank robbers who stormed, robbed and killed 10 police officers and civilians including the DPO.

One of the victims who died in the latest attack was a popular business man and a CEO of Chuks Supermarket in Kogi, Mr Nicholas Chuks Ofodile.

It was gathered that in the course of the robbery, Operatives of the state's Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrived at the scene promptly and engaged the robbers in a shooting duel.

An eyewitness and a survivor recounted that Mr Chuks Offidle and other ran into robbery scene and wanted to divert into the bush when he was shot dead by the robbers.


The second victim, a commercial taxi driver, was killed behind the wheel of his vehicle while conveying passengers to Abuja.

Late Mr Ofodile’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, according to Emmanuel Abe, the state commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps while the body of the second victim has been transferred to his relations.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP William Aya, confirmed the report of the tragic incident.

DSP Aya furthered assured that police have started combing the bush with the aim of rescuing the kidnapped victims.

Kogi state is going through a hard time. Let us pray for the state.
