Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have reached an agreement to fight twice for the undisputed heavyweight crown, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed terms on a two-fight deal which would see one of them crowned the undisputed heavyweight world champion.

The British rivals have been on a collision course since Fury stopped Deontay Wilder in February to become world champion for the second time.

Fury will have to overcome Deontay Wilder again later this year while Joshua will have to first fight Kubrat Pulev with both fights having been delayed due to the coronavirus crisis.

Fury may then have to fight his mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte early in 2021 before he can then take on Joshua.

Should the rivals lock horns, their first meeting is likely to be in Saudi Arabia before a potential rematch in Britain.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports News: "We're making great progress; there is still a lot to overcome [but] are looking at venues and dates.

"It's fair to say [Joshua and Fury] are in agreement regarding the financial terms of the fight.

"We've been talking to [Fury's management team] MTK, giving them the assurances from Joshua's side that all the details on the structure of the deal is approved from our side. And it is from Fury's side, as well.

"We're in a good place. It's fair to say that, in principle, both guys have agreed to that fight.

"A lot to overcome in the meantime. We're moving in the right direction. I'm confident that both guys have given their blessing for the fight to go ahead."

Fury completed a remarkable recovery four months ago when he stopped Wilder in the seventh round of their rematch.

His career had looked to be over when he fell into a drink and drug-fuelled depression following his win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

But he returned to the ring three years later to set up his first shot at Wilder which ended in controversial failure when he climbed off the canvas twice before the judges scored the fight a draw.

In 2019 Fury swatted aside Tom Schwarz before labouring to victory over Otto Wallin while Wilder continued his destructive reign with wins over Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz.

But Fury, who had changed trainers and piled on muscle, stunned the American with a dominant performance in their Las Vegas sequel.

Their third meeting has twice been scheduled - for July 18 and October 3 - and twice postponed due to the global pandemic.

They are now likely to clash in November or December with Australia, New Zealand and Macau in the running to host the fight.

Joshua, meanwhile, endured a topsy-turvy 2019 in back-to-back fights with Andy Ruiz Jr.

The Brit was stopped in their first meeting in New York before deploying a disciplined game plan to exact revenge six months later in the desert.

His meeting with Pulev was due to take place next weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but has also been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus crisis.
