Nigerian Celebrities Should Ignore #justicefortina Because It’s A Local Issue. George Floyd Is A Global Issue — Rapper Slimcase #justiceforuwa #justiceforuwa: Her Rape Was A Set Up
#justiceforuwa: What's your say in this by Tildawinner(f): Sun 07, June, 2020 08:19am
Just few days ago a young, aspiring and hopeful undergraduate of University of Benin, UNIBEN, was grousomely raped and murdered by some brute-like inhumane humans inside the Redeemed Christian Church of God hall. Her hope of becoming a microbiologist and her life were all ended by just 5minutes gratification of a wicked fellow.

This brutal rape and murder of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuw is just one in thousands of such cases of henious acts by rapists happening almost on daily basis in our country, with majority going unpunished and few underpunished. With this evil spreading like a wild fire, should we fold our hands and watch the future of our children, girls and women destroyed and then only end in noise on social media, radio and other media of communication? Why the increase in rape cases because we never had it like this in the past? What is actually the cause because every problem has a cause? Who is to blame?

Don't just blame the rape. Blame many of our parents, who, in the name of being civilized have failed to maintain the value of decency and modest dressings on their children. Some go to the extent of buying sexy dressings themselves for the girl child.

Don't just blame the rape. Blame our lawmakers, at both national and state level, who have failed to make and domesticate the laws that protect human lives, especially the girl child rights and protection acts. Instead, they keep making laws that favor them and appropriate huge billions of Naira for themselves and the executives, as they keep demolishing and renovating their complexes.

Don't just blame the rape. Blame the executive arm of government , on whose shoulders lies the security of lives and property but have failed woefully to protect lives of the average Nigerian, especially the womenfolk. What are the governors doing with over N300M monthly security vote that they cannot install CCTV cameras across their states to fish out perpetrators of these rape acts and other crimes as it's done in other countries where security exists?

Don't just blame rape. Blame some of the churches, who, in a desperate attempt to retain their members have resorted to preaching extreme liberalism, where the way you dress to their churches do not matter. They try to justify their carefree attitude by saying God does not look at the outward appearance but the heart. But they forgot that men and Satan, who have little or no mercy look at those outward appearances. Hence, setting their members up for those heartless rapists.

Don't just blame the rape. Blame our Nollywood and Music Industry, who are copying the rotten Western mode of indecent culture of nudity and are displaying it to the gullible Nigerian society, forgetting that unlike America and other Western countries they copy, Nigeria has little or no security, or rule of law.

Don't just blame rape. Blame most of our girls who have made nudity in the name of fashion the order of the day. Bump shorts and other seductive dresses which were abnormal are almost becoming normal in this our insecure country, thereby luring those criminal elements to themselves, even causing harm to other innocent girls.

Don't just blame rape. Blame those animal-like criminals, who, because of just 5 minutes selfish gratification destroy the lives and future of others, and their own lives as well, whether they are caught or not.

It will be good if a stiffer penalties are made to await any rapist. Infact, their genitals should be cut, and they should face death penalty or life imprisonment.

Godswill Joseph O.

What is your opinion to the causes of rape and how to stop it? Do you agree with the author?
