Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has reacted to the claim of Attah Igala, HRH, Michael Ameh Oboni II that Ajaokuta, Lokoja and Koton Larfi belong to Igala Kingdom.

The Governor in a state broadcast on Friday warned that his administration will come hard on people trying to divide the state against ethnic lines.

Governor Bello stressed that there is no room for imperialism in 21st century, stressing that his administration has been anchored on peace and unity of the different ethnic groups in the state and will not hesitate to go against people trying to fictionalise the state along ethnic lines.

Governor Yahaya Bello's reaction was on the recent judgment of the Lokoja Federal High Court which gave Ajaokuta, Koton Karfe and Lokoja to areas under the overload of Attah Igala.

The Governor called on those involve not to take law into their hands, adding that they should follow due procedure and seek legal means to address their grievance.

He maintained that his administration will not fold its hands to allow for imperialism in this civilization age, adding that the state would be hard on anybody found culpable no matter how highly placed.

He warned the people of the state that the court judgment should not be an avenue to cause trouble amongst the ethnic groups in the state, adding that there is an avenue for the aggrieved party to approach higher court if they not satisfied with the judgment.

“I advise those who may want to test the will of this administration to desist in their own interests as we will not spare any means to restore normalcy where they may want to brake the law”, he said.

He, however, added that his administration has tried to foster peace and unity in the state which gave birth to the acronym, EBIGO, which means Ebira, Igala and Okun that demonstrates his administration seriousness to hold the unity of the state above any interest.
