Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has revealed that the ban on Interstate movement is expected a lift on June 21, same date domestic flight is expected to resume it operation in the country.

As part of the precautionary measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the country, federal government had suspended interstate movement and domestic flights in the country since March.

Mr. Ahmad on Thursday, through his twitter handle disclosed that interstate movement may also takes effect alongside domestic flight from June 21.

According Ahmad, “Interstate movement may resume on June 21, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, gave the hint recently, as domestic flights expected to also resume on June 21.”

Similarly, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, during the Presidential Task Force briefing on Monday, said the resumption of flights will be purely premised on the implementation of the approved protocols for safe operations of the airlines.

Mr Sirika said consultations have been on and will continue between the ministry and industry ‘stakeholders’ on the best ways to operate profitably while at the same time ensure the safety of travellers.

The ministry’s spokesperson, James Odaudu, on Monday also added that the next three weeks is to enable the operators “to adhere to all the necessary industry regulations, without which they cannot take to the skies after being dormant for some time.”
