The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has revealed that schools will be reopened on July 13th 2020 to enable final year, SSCE and Primary Six students take their exams. This announcement came today, Wednesday 3rd June 2020, in the meeting held in Abuja on daily COVID-19 briefing.

Boss Mustapha on Monday said schools remain closed until further evaluations but revealed today the Federal Government intention to reopen schools for the sake of final year students, SSCE students and Primary six students.

This decision is due is a welcome development as these people that fall under this category will be able to take their exams so as to take a step ahead. It's barely two days since the second phase of the lockdown ended.

The Task Force Committee said it was working in systematic and fact based way to ensure all its decision making was informed by the best public health data and global best practices that ensure safe re-opening.

Further the consultations to various stakeholders have already started and additionally consultations on memorandum of understanding have been dispatched to various learning institutions and other sectors for their views on the safe re opening their various contents.

Schools will however be re-opened for all students later when the Federal Government is convinced they the lives of the students will be safe while at school.
