Here's a list of some of the most horrific rape cases that have already been recorded in Nigeria from 2017-2020

1. Obiamaka
Until her painful death, Obiamaka Ngozichukwu Orakwe was in SS2. She attended a private school was preparing to enter SS3.

Obiamaka was the last of five children, the baby of the house who was getting ready for her bright future. On the 10th of July 2017, She went to bed early and never got the chance to wake up again.

Obimaka was an indigene of Obosi in Anambra state. She was raped and murdered at her parents home in the Abule Ado area of Lagos.

Acording to Anambra State Online, Obiamaka was home alone on July 10th when some Indian Hemp smoking boys who had asked her out and she refused, scaled her family’s compound fence and gained access to their apartment.

One of the residents said that they saw the boys scaling the fence of the compound from the inside and when he tried to confront them, they took to their heels.

A call was placed to the parents of the girl since she was the only one at home and the mother had to rush back home early from work almost immediately. Obimaka was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

2. Ochanya
In 2018, a lecturer with Benue Polytechnic, Ugboko, Andrew Ogbuja, with his son, Victor, a student of the University of Agricultural, Makurdi (UAM), for five years, sexually abused Miss Ogbanje, who was trusted in his care.

Since she was 8 years, both father (Andrew) and son (victor) started sleeping with her until age 13, when she suddenly fell ill to a disease later diagnosed as Vesico-vaginal fistula (VVW).

Doctors confirmed that there had been forced penetration on her. The lecturer was first charged to court for rape but granted bail before he was rearrested by the police when Ochanya died.

3. Joy Adoki
Until her sad death, Joy Adoki was a 400 level student in the department of Management Science, UNIPORT.

In April 2020, Adoki Joy, was declared missing. One month later she was found dead.

The suspect, Friday AKpan confessed to the killing. He confessed to the police that he raped and killed her alongside two others. He then buried them in a shallow grave.

4. Uwa
Uwa – was an 100 level student of Microbiology at the University of Benin. A few days ago, she was reading inside a Redeemed Christian Church Of God parish in Edo state — not quite far from her home — when she was raped and killed on the 31st of March 2020.

Her attackers smashed her head with a fire extinguisher and left her unconscious around the Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City. Although she was rushed to the intensive care unit of a hospital, Uwa did not survive.

5. Barakat Bello
A 19-year-old lady, identified as Barakat Bello, has been gang raped and murdered in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The Nation reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in the Akinyele area of Ibadan.

According to SaharaReporters, Barakat was a student of the Institute of Agriculture, Research and Training, Ibadan.

Barakat’s sister found her lifeless body behind their home. Further examination revealed that she was raped before being murdered.

May their beautiful souls rest peace.

Nigeria desperately needs to do better by sentencing rapist to death. I believe a good place to start is by ensuring justice for Uwa and Barakat Bello.

The major cause is injustice, because if justice are done, this rubbish will stop automatically. Who ever is guilty should be kill and if good let the parent enjoy it too, so that others will learn from it
