End Of covid19 by Luckyjay111(m): Tue 02, June, 2020 05:26pm
Covid-19 pandemic has put many of individuals in fear about when will it will end and putting themselves into more caution on preventing measures against the spread by washing hands more often, wearing masks and even staying at home while others are working at home.
But despite all those measures the virus has continue to increase immensely now reaching over 6 million of confirmed cases in the world but with our scientists across the globe working their level best to ensure that they come up with a vaccine so as to save humanity against the pandemic.

Russia will start giving its first drug that has been approved to treat the novel corona virus. According to Reuters, the antiviral drug that is registered under the name Avifavir, will be rolled out next week so that it can be used to treat corona virus patients.

The head of Russia's RDIF sovereign wealth fund told Reuters during an interview that Russian hospitals will begin giving corona virus patients the antiviral drug as from 11 June this year. According to Reuters, the company behind the drug said that it could manufacture enough that would treat around 60000 people in one month.

The antiviral drug generally known as favipiravir was first developed in the late 1990s by a Japanese company which later moved into healthcare. Then it has been modified to enhance Covid-19 treatment by Russian scientists according to RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev. Avifavir has been said to appear on a Russian government list of approved drugs on Saturday.

This comes in after Biopharmaceutical company, Sinovac Biotech Limited stated that the company is 99% sure its vaccine (CoronaVac) will work.

Having received approval from the government authorities, the company has made significant development of CoronaVac. This approval was to enable them conduct both Phase 1 and Phase 2 human clinical trials that evaluated safety, immunogenicity and tolerance of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine showed great potential by being able to protect monkeys from contracting Corona virus.

Phase 1 trials of CoronaVac began in April with its preliminary observations showing positive results.

The company is currently in stage 2 of its vaccine trial, with more than 1000 volunteers participating. The company is in preliminary talks to hold stage 3 trials, the final part of the process in the UK.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has released new guidelines to govern public gatherings as countries began reopening their economies this is after the Atwoli had a gathering earlier in which they didn't follow protocol needed when having any mass gathering.

The report also dictated that the functions should be held outdoors and arrivals should be staggered while the frequency of transport should be increased.

It also advised that people with Covid-19 symptoms, contacts of Covid-19 cases during their period of quarantine, or those coming from countries/areas with community transmission of Covid-19 should not attend.

Other proposals include designating seating, adjusting the venue capacity, holding events outdoors or virtually, reminding people to observe physical distancing, cough etiquette and hand hygiene practices.

“Since mass gatherings have substantial political, cultural, social, and economic implications, authorities should assess the importance and necessity of an event and consider the option that it may take place, provided all associated public health risks are adequately addressed and mitigated,” the guidelines state.
