'I converted Salah from a defender to striker' by Stephen6(m): Tue 02, June, 2020 11:53am
The man who coached Liverpool lethal attacker, Mohamed Salah at the Mokawloon FC Academy in Egypt, El Shishiny, says he had to convert him from left back to a striker because he was too bad as left back.

El Shishiny said Salah failed to compete against 4 other players as a left back. According to him, Salah was however the quickest and that made him notice some attacking abilities in him and decided to convert him.

El Shishiny said he promoted Salah to first team, El Mokawloon in the Egyptian Premier League. This is where he made his debut in 2010 as a 17 year old. He reportedly immediately attracted interests from Egyptian giants Zamalek and Al Ahly but didn't play for any of them.

“I know many coaches will now claim they made him but I know it was me,” El Shishiny reportedly said.

“I recommended him for the first team at El Mokawloon. He played as left back but I thought he could do much better as an attacker," El Shishiny explained.

El Shishiny also talked about Salah's hunger for goals.

“We had a match one day and we won 4-0. Mohamed had three chances but missed all of them. After the match, he cried in the changing room. I had to ask him why are you crying and he said, because today I did not score... I told him he will be top scorer next season and the next season he scored 30 goals for us... ," El Shishiny said.

Following two seasons at the club, El Mokawloon, he moved to Swiss giants, FC Basel, then to Chelsea. He also played for Fiorentina, AS Roma, before moving to Liverpool.
