The English language can be a bit confusing sometimes owing to the many rules guiding the language. These rules of grammar makes the language dynamic and all encompassing. As second speakers of the language, we are prone to making mistakes when speaking or writing the language which is understandable. What wouldn't be forgiven or acceptable is when we aren't ready take corrections when corrected.
Nigerians mostly are used to saying "I want to drop" or " i want to alight" whenever they reach the destination or junction where they want to come down from either a bus, car, taxi or any movable structure. Those two expressions aren't correct. The correct thing to say is "I want to disembark" which means you want to come down from the bus or vehicle because you have actually reached your destination or you want to stop at a junction. I hope you have learnt something interesting today..
