Bankers advises Nigerians on what to do to their accounts by Liberty(m): Sat 30, May, 2020 03:15pm
A retired banker who once worked in one of Nigeria's banks has given reasons why married men are expected to open a joint account with their legally married wives and even if they are not married legally.

In his tweet on Twitter, he urged people to marry responsibly and that marriage should be a one way ticket, because once God starts blessing you, you will need to make your wife a co-signatory in all your accounts.

He said he has worked in banking sector for decades and have seen how lot of cash are eventually been mopped up in dormancy, as there is no co-signatory to the accounts and the owner is dead already.

He said when most people die, their partners are not aware that they have such huge amount of money in bank as thus, the bank will mop the deceased's money and turn it to their own out of dormancy.

He said, for those whose partners knows they have such huge amount in bank, lawyers will be the one to take the larger part, as he helps in fighting for the case.

So, the best thing for married couples to do is to make their wife a co-signatory to their account, so that when death comes, all they have to do is to present the death Certificate of their husband, which will involve no lawyer.
