You must have seen them on your TV screens. You probably didn't know about their sexual orientation. You should be familiar with the popular ones, Sam Smith, the singer; Elton John, the singer who got married to a woman then later came out in 1988; Wentworth Miller, the star actor in Prison Break, Ellen DeGeneres, the comedian, writer and TV host, and a few others.
Now here is a list of your favorite stars who you probably never thought were gay. Shall we begin? 1. Jussie Smollet He acted as a gay man in the movie, Empire. Several people thought it was all an act, but the truth is, it isn't. In an interview he said, "I have never been in any closet. There is no closet." 2. Colton Haynes If you watched 'Arrows' and 'Teen Wolf', then you will definitely remember this face. He came out years back, and married Jeff Leatham, a celebrity floral designer, in 2017. 3. Rick Cosnett On February this year, the actor who played a major role in 'Flash' came out on Instagram. He said in the video he shared, "Hi everyone, I'm gay. I just wanted everyone to know because I've made a promise to myself to live my truth everyday....." 4. Lil Nas X The young rapper came out on June, 2019. While posting the link to one of his songs, he tweeted, "Some of you all already know, some of you all don't care, some of you all not going to f--k with me no more....". Then he added a rainbow emoji afterwards. 5. Michael D. Cohen You watch 'Henry Danger'? You ought to know this man then. Although back in the 90s, he wasn't a man. Yeah, he is transgender. He said, "I was misgendered at birth. I identify as male, and I am proud that I have had a transgender experience; a transgender journey." 6. Kristian Nairn Remember this guy who played the role of Hodor, in the popular TV series 'Game of Thrones'? In March 2014, during an interview with a fan blog, he said, "Well, in all honesty, when you talk about the gay community, you are talking about MY community." 7. Kevin McHale Remember that guy on a wheelchair in 'Glee' This is him. He came out as a gay man in April, 2018 using one of Ariana Grande's songs. "#NoTearsLeftToCry is gayer than me and I accept", he tweeted. 8. Daniel Newman He was the star actor in 'Walking Dead'. In 2017, he announced on social media that he is gay and proud. In an interview with People Magazine, he said, "I don't want to be hidden and dodge the question. I'm proud of who I am." 9. Anderson Cooper Cooper is an American Broadcasting journalist. He runs a TV show titled 'Anderson Cooper 360°' on CNN. In 2012, he wrote an email to a blogger, "The fact is, I'm gay. Always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud." 10. Zachary Quinto You must have seen this face in the movie 'Star Trek' and the TV series 'Heroes'. In 2011, he spoke about his sexual orientation in an interview with New York magazine using the words, "as a gay man". 11. Julianne Hough She is one of the current judges in America's Got Talent. Though she is currently married to a man, she came out in September, 2019. Her husband, Brooks Laich praised her for her honesty on social media. 12. Rita Ora In 2018, the musician tweeted, "I have had romantic relationships with women and men throughout my life, and this is my personal journey." 13. Janelle Monae In 2018, the singer and actress came out saying, "Being a black queer woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women, I consider myself to be free." Have you heard that song she did with Jidenna? That song is a total vibe! 14. Amandla Stenberg The actress who played less roles in both 'The Hunger Games'and 'Everything Everything' publicly came out in June, 2018 as a gay woman. She wrote on Instagram, "OUT & PROUD. So happy to say the words. Yep, I'm gay in official print." 15. Kristen Stewart She starred in the movies 'Twilight' and 'Snow White'. If you have watched Charlie's Angels, you must have seen her in it too. In September, 2016, Kristen said, "When I was dating a guy (Robert Pattinson; the guy who played Edward Cullen in Twilight), I was hiding everything I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized and I didn't like it. But then it changed when I started dating a girl." There are probably several others who are not out yet. Fans of Ariana Grande are speculating that she is not as straight as people think. Reports also have it that several Nigerian entertainers are still in the closet, perhaps because of the strong laws against the lifestyle in the country.
