According to a Facebook user, a farmer in his locality, lastweek Saturday, caught a strange animal in Gudu, Sokoto State, which he believes has not been seen before. He said the man had set traps for big snakes and other known wild animals, but ended up catching what we are yet to know.



The post (which was translated by Facebook) was greeted with shock and surprise from his friends and followers on the platform. Some refering to it as a "monster wild cat" while others said it was a kangaroo.



But looking closely at the image, we are tempted to believe that the animal is a rare kind of rat, a variety maybe. But when I googled on the different varieties of rats, the legs didn't appear that way. Even the biggest rat in the world, domesticated as pet by some English men in the UK, didn't look like this. So, I'm confused at this point.

Guys, have you come across this kind of animal before? Could it be a monster rat?
