Fg Update On Schools Resuming Fg Gives Update On Reopening Of Schools Schools Not Reopening In June
Schools Resumption by Samuel111(m): Wed 27, May, 2020 06:51pm
On this occasion of 2020 Children’s Day celebration, 27th of May; The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) calls on the Federal Government to refocus on public schools as the cradle of cultural, moral and academic formation of future leaders.

Governments at all levels should ensure a comprehensive review of the public school system. We believe that Nigeria’s public schools could reclaim its lost and past glory if government at all levels take interest in the provision of critical infrastructure, capacity building for teachers and expansion of facilities to accommodate the growing population.

The The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone D Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman (Dan-Fodio) described as distressing “the spiralling growth of private schools,” saying, in most states, the number of public schools remains stagnant, despite the increase in population of children in need of access to functional primary and post-primary education.

However, it is also sad and quite unfortunate that a day like this remind us of many children whose life has been lost to one incident or the other. Among such are those children whose life has been claimed by the venom of the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic, and also those children who were cut down in their prime by the men of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on two different occasions in the last few months in Ogun State.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) use this medium to make a clarion call to all relevant stakeholders and Government agencies to find justice for these innocent Nigerian Students who are to also celebrate this special day with their mates. Our heart goes to the parent and relatives of all the lost children. We pray the almighty God continues to comfort you.
