2020 is indeed a unique year to remember to all the countries of the world without Nigeria been left out. The lockdown has drastically affected the economy and the people's normal way of life.
Most Nigerians are now beginning to lost count of the days of the week and their corresponding dates. As a result of the lockdown, everyday seems to be a holiday, but more or less a compulsory one. It is not really an enjoyable holiday but like an imprisonment in the sense that you cannot move around to visit your love ones or celebrate it loud. As Nigerians celebrates Eid-el Fitr today sunday 24th may, 2020, marking the end of the Ramadan fast that stretched for 30day amidst the lock down, the Federal government has deem it fit to declare a fun filled day for Nigerians. Lots of activities are already lined up to make Nigeria recover from the boredom the corona virus pandemic brought upon it's inhabitants. The policies of the Federal Government has affected the way of life of Nigerians including when to go to work and when not to, when to observe a holidays and even the numbers of days to be used for certain celebrations. Like every other countries of the world, Nigerian government has also set aside some special days for some special celebrations. These celebrations include Democracy Day, Worker’s Day, Children’s Day, Independence Day etcMonday, 25th and Tuesday, 26th may, 2020: Sallah holiday The Federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday to be Sallah holidays to avails the Muslims faithfuls the opportunity to celebrate Eid-el Fitr. The celebration which started today sunday, 24th May, has been extended to monday and Tuesday for the Muslim brothers to celebrate it to the fullest. Wednesday 27th of may, 2020: Children's Day. The 27th which happened to be Wednesday has been Set aside for Children's day by the federal government. Children's day is a day set aside to celebrate children. A day to show them love and a day to appreciate them. Corona virus has in a way declared the holiday even before the federal government. It is very disheartening that the country is facing her trying moment when the children are to be celebrated. However , there is a unique for parents to celebrate their children. Parent understand it better. Thursday, 28th may ,2020: NYSC POP Thursday 28th has also been set aside for National youth service corp (NYSC) passing out parade (POP) The Grand finale is Sunday 31st May 2020: Pentecost Celebration. Pentecost is a Christian Festival celebrated 49 days after Easter Sunday (the seventh Sunday) to commemorate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the children of God while they tarry in Jerusalem From Sunday to another Sunday, na so so celebration for Nigeria. The good part of the whole story is that Sunday is also the last day of the month. Ending a month with a celebration is very prophetic. Maybe God is set to wipe the tears of Nigeria and give us a garment of celebration in place of the garment of corona virus pandemic. 1 Like |
