The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force, Boss Mustapha has revealed the Federal Government intention to reopen schools, churches and mosques by June 1st, 2020 after the second phase of a 14-day lockdown and urged the general public to comply with the Government's directive on containing the spread of the virus.

This was revealed in a recent meeting of COVID-19 daily briefing held in Abuja as Boss Mustapha said schools, economic activities and religious activities will be declared open by June 1st 2020 across the country if they adopt new strategies under COVID-19 era in line with the guidelines during the second phase of the lockdown.

He noted that the second phase of the lockdown expires on June 1, 2020 and reiterated that the decision to extend the lockdown is not punitive, adding that it's for the interest of everyone.

He added that the two weeks lockdown should be utilized by professional bodies, offices, businesses, educational sector and places of worship to plan and adopt new strategies to contain the spread of the virus in line with the guidelines, which include respiratory hygiene, social distancing, regular washing of hands with soap under running water, the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers and the compulsory use of facemask.

Students are hereby advised to prepare their mind towards resumption of school and to personally ensure they adopt the guidelines as released by the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) so as to contain the spread of the virus.
