Does Rice Water Work on Hair?
There’s been a wave on the use of rice water on hair in the natural hair community. While some testify of the miracles it performs in growing hair, a few have strongly spoken against it.
The Rice water rinse is made in various ways by different people.
a) one method is soaking rinsed raw rice in water for a period of 12-24 hours. After the rice water is fermented, the rice is removed used as a hair rinse.
b) Another method is rinsing raw rice and taking the water from it. Then leaving the water to ferment for 12-24 hours.
Rice is rich in protein and so it adds nutrients to the hair scalp as well as the strands.
However while some have complained of having dry and brittle hair after using this rinse, using a deep conditioner after can easily solve that problem. In any case, rice water does help to almost miraculously grow hair but as all hair regimes, it depends on hair type and as such what works for A may not work for B. A majority nonetheless, have spoken in favour of the rice water rinse.
