Clutch purse are small size purses ladies hang around there shoulder when hanging out with friends and families. It can be carried to places like parties, picnics and outings, virtually any place as you desire. I will be teaching us here in details, on how to make your own clutch purse.


MATERIALS REQUIRED: TOOLS REQUIRED:

* Cardboard * Metre rule

* Ankara fabric and linen * Pencil or marker

* Gum * Gum brush

* Foam * Puncher

* Chain (1½ yards) * scissors

* Chain holder, tokotaya, magnetic lock

STEPS

There are Three stages involved in the making of a clutch purse or bag. The cutting stage, wrapping stage and coupling stage. The steps involved in each stages would be listed below;

THE CUTTING STAGE

In making a clutch purse or bag, two layers are needed to make a complete and perfect purse: the inner layer and the outer layer. The steps involved are hereby listed below

1. To the outer layer, cut out a rectangle of dimensions 18" length and 10" width from the cardboard.

2. To the inner layer, cut out a rectangle of dimensions 17" length and 9" width from the cardboard.

3. Fold the cardboards in such a way that, it forms a purse having a front part, back part and a cover part.

4. To the smooth side of the cardboard, using your gum brush, apply gum on the cardboard and place it on the foam to cut out the foam to the exact size of the rectangle.

5. Fold again to foam a purse, and ensure the inner and outer layers are properly aligned.

6. To the sides of the purse, cut out 2 pieces of the dimensions (5" length and 3" width) each of the Ankara fabric and linen.


THE WRAPPING STAGE

This is where you cover up the inner and outer layers respectively.The inner layer carries the linen while the outer layer carries the choice Ankara fabric. Below are the steps;

1. To the outer layer, cover the foamy part of the cardboard with your choice Ankara fabric.

2. Apply gum round the edges of the rough side of the cardboard having the print name of the cardboard, ensure the gum covers about 1" of the edges. Do the same to the fabric.

3. Allow the gum to dry so as to hold the fabric tightly on the cardboard, to prevent pulling or shifts.

4. To the inner layer, cover up the smooth part of the cardboard with the linen and repeat steps 3 and 4 above.

5. To the side of the purse, apply gum on the top part with width 3" of the Ankara fabric and the linen. Allow to dry and stick them together in such a way that the right sides are facing each, flip it over so as to bring out the right side of the fabric.

6. Pick the inner layer, apply gum to the two edges of the front and back side of the purse, allow to dry, also do d same to to edges of the purse sides parts.

7. Stick the two sides respectively to the inner layer after the gum is dried.

8. Fix the magnetic lock and the chain holders to ur desire positions. Note that the magnetic lock helps you to be able to lock and open the purse free, so as to prevent spillage or things falling off from your purse, while the chain holders help you to hang your purse firmly on your shoulder as it holds the chain firmly to the purse.


THE COUPLING STAGE

This is where you couple the inner layers and the outer layers together to make OK be whole and complete purse. To do this, follow this steps;

1. Apply the gum all over the rough sides of the inner and outer layers and leave it to properly dry.

2. Accurately arrange the inner layer on the outer layer.

3. With your hand press the two layers together starting with the back to the cover.

4. Cover the purse so as to deterrmine the positioning of the thick side of the magnetic lock.

5. When accurately fixed, press, to couple the front part on the inner and outer layers.

7. YOU ARE NOW READY TO ROCK YOUR CLUTCH PURSE!!!
